Bond amount determined for ex-Ohio State player in deadly Dublin collision

A former Ohio State football player, Kirk Barton, faced court on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide following a crash in Dublin. Barton, 40, appeared in Franklin County Municipal Court and was given a $500,000 cash surety bond. He is prohibited from driving or leaving central Ohio, and his passport is with his defense attorney. The preliminary hearing is set for July 1. Barton, of Lewis Center, allegedly drove a pickup truck at high speed and struck a Lexus, resulting in the death of 24-year-old Ethan Perry. Barton reportedly exhibited signs of impairment at the scene and admitted to consuming alcohol before the crash.
