Authorities say man steals car with three children and crashes in Malibu after pursuit.

A man was taken into custody for allegedly stealing a car in East Los Angeles with three children inside and subsequently crashing it in Malibu during a pursuit by law enforcement on Friday evening. According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the car, which was left running with the children in it, was taken from a 7-Eleven on East Olympic Boulevard by an unknown individual at approximately 6:38 p.m. Shortly after, the California Highway Patrol began chasing the vehicle westbound on the 10 Freeway, with the pursuit lasting until around 7:34 p.m. The car ultimately collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Pacific Coast Highway and Kanan Dume Road in Malibu. Following the crash, the suspect was seen running from the scene and was later apprehended after fleeing through a residential area and field. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department transported four individuals to a hospital, three via helicopter and one by ambulance, for minor-to-moderate injuries. The condition of the fourth person is unknown. Although it is not specified how severely the children were harmed, they were reportedly conscious and breathing following the incident. The identity of the suspect has not been disclosed at this time.
