Ashburn mourns death of Stone Bridge High student
ASHBURN, VA. (DC News Now) -- The community is honoring a Stone Bridge High School student known for her kindness and bright personality after a tragic accident claimed her life near the school. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) has identified the victim as 20-year-old Calina Yu. A memorial has been growing at the site of the accident, across from the school, where many have left flowers, candles, and heartfelt messages. Students remember Yu for her ability to make everyone feel noticed and appreciated. One student shared that Yu had a cheerful disposition that made a positive impact on those around her. The loss has deeply affected the school community, with students struggling to come to terms with the tragedy. The driver involved in the accident was an employee of LCPS operating a school maintenance vehicle, raising concerns about pedestrian safety in the area.
