‘A proud son of Fresno’: Rep. Jim Costa on Marine’s death
FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – Fresno-area Congressman Jim Costa released a statement on Friday following the death of a Marine from Fresno who was identified as one of the victims in a fatal crash during a convoy in New Mexico. On April 15, two Marines were killed and one was hospitalized after the crash near Santa Teresa in New Mexico, according to officials. Lance Cpl. Marcelino M. Gamino, 28, of Fresno, was identified as one of the Marines killed. Lance Cpl Gamino was a combat engineer with the First Combat Engineer Battalion, First Marine Division. He enlisted in May 2022 and was promoted to lance corporal in August 2024. On Friday, Congressman Jim Costa released a statement honoring the Marine Lance Cpl. Gamino. The other Marine killed in the crash was identified as Lance Cpl. Albert A. Aguilera, 22, of Riverside. A third Marine was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition, according to officials.
