6-year-old killed after Jeep overturns on Highway 18 in Smith County
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, at approximately 11:44 p.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 18 in Smith County.A 1993 Jeep Wrangler driven by 29-year-old Christopher Westberry of Canton was traveling west on Highway 18 when the vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned. A 6-year-old minor received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at Smith County Hospital. Westberry and a 10-year-old minor sustained minor injuries and were treated.The crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Further details have not been released.
