3 hospitalized after rollover crash into Canton pond

[Watch in the player above: What to do if you witness a crash] CANTON, Ohio (WJW) -- Three people suffered non-life-threatening injuries when their vehicle ended up in a nearby pond after a crash involving two other vehicles. Canton firefighters responded at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, to the 4000 block of Market Avenue North. Dispatchers reported the car had sheared a utility pole, overturned and went off the roadway into the pond, according to a news release from the city fire department. The three males inside were thrown from the vehicle. First responders found them on the shoreline and rendered medical aid until they were transported to local hospitals. Canton police in an update later Monday reported a Mazda CX-30 had been headed west on 39th Street Northeast when it struck two Chrysler 300s that were traveling north on Market Avenue North. One of the 300s ended up in the pond. Crash investigators are now reviewing the incident. The crash knocked out power in the area, bringing an AEP Ohio crew to the scene. Market Avenue North was closed for about six hours during the cleanup. Crews placed floating barriers on the water to mitigate any environmental impact from fluids leaking from the vehicle, before the vehicle was ultimately towed out of the pond, according to firefighters.
