2 pedestrians struck by car in North Hollywood, 1 dead

Two pedestrians were struck by a car in North Hollywood overnight, leaving one dead, according to officials. The fatal incident was reported in the 6100 block of Colfax Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Preliminary information indicates the 911 caller told police that two people were hit by a car. Details surrounding what led up to the collision were scarce at first; however, video from the scene taken moments after the crash shows that multiple vehicles were damaged. A home along Colfax Avenue, which doesn't have sidewalks, also appeared to be impacted, according to the video. KTLA was live at the scene at 6 a.m. Sunday morning and witnessed the Medical Examiner's Office taking the deceased victim, who until that point remained in the roadway under a white canopy. Another person who was hit was transported to a hospital in unknown condition. The driver of the car involved was also taken to the hospital, police told KTLA 5's Jennifer McGraw, and they are cooperating with the investigation. Detectives were still working to determine what caused the crash as the morning progressed, going door to door asking nearby residents for surveillance footage and more information. The scene was cleared by 8 a.m. Sunday.
