2 injured in motorcycle crash after going around 'Road Closed' barricades

Two individuals were hurt on Saturday evening in a motorcycle crash that took place in Independence. The accident occurred on Truman Road just east of Missouri 78, after the operator and passenger of a 2004 Harley-Davidson disregarded the "Road Closed" barricades. Traveling east in the closed section, the motorcycle hit a dirt embankment blocking the road, causing both individuals to be thrown from the vehicle. They were taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention, with the driver sustaining severe injuries and the passenger experiencing several broken bones. According to a news release from IPD, neither person was wearing a helmet during the collision. Alcohol is presumed to have played a role, as noted by IPD, and investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the incident.
