2 deadly motorcyclist crashes in less than 24 hours in Southern New England
It's been a dangerous weekend on the road for motorcyclists in our region, with two deadly crashes in less than 24 hours. A crash on Route 6 in Johnston Saturday afternoon left a motorcyclist dead, with an early investigation finding the operator collided with a trailer attached to a truck that had been trying to make a left turn into a driveway. The 38-year-old operator had been transported to Rhode Island Hospital with serious injuries after the crash, but was later pronounced dead. Johnston police said the operator of the pickup truck is cooperating with investigators, and while an investigation remains ongoing, there are not any criminal charges pending. The crash came less than 24 hours after a crash in Raynham that also claimed the life of a local motorcyclist. Friday evening, a 52-year-old man from New Bedford was hit on his motorcycle by an SUV at the intersection of South Street East and Hill Street.
