18-year-old dies in Kentucky Lake cliff-jumping accident

BENTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — An 18-year-old is dead after what authorities described as a "tragic cliff-jumping accident." According to authorities, the young man never resurfaced after cliff jumping at the Rock Quarry on Kentucky Lake on Sunday, May 31. "The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Search and Recovery Team recently responded to Kentucky Lake to assist local authorities with the recovery of an 18-year-old male following a tragic cliff-jumping accident," the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife wrote. "Our team is honored to serve when called upon during these difficult situations, and we remain committed to supporting our partner agencies and the citizens of the Commonwealth." His body was recovered on Monday, June 1. Officials with the Lyon County Coroner’s office identified him as 18-year-old Caleb J. Milem. According to the coroner, the death is considered a drowning. "We extend our deepest prayers and heartfelt condolences to the young man’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragedy. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time," the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said.
