14-year-old killed in Montgomery County crash involving underage driver; allegedly impaired adults arrested
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A teenager has died and two adults were charged after a crash in Montgomery County. The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says that on June 5 just before 8 p.m., they responded to a crash on Moccasin Creek Road near Deep Water Trail in Montgomery County. A white Lexus was driving west and lost control, running off the road and overturning. The SUV was being driven by a 14-year-old girl. Melissa Tonn, the mother of the victim, was in the front passenger seat, and Travis Tonn was in the back seat along with an 8-year-old and another 14-year-old, Kinsley Seay, who was not wearing a seatbelt. Both Melissa and Travis Tonn were allegedly intoxicated and were arrested at the scene of the crash. They are both charged with three counts of felony child endangerment along with felony manslaughter and impaired supervision.
