13-year-old girl dies on life support, making her the 5th teen to perish in tragic Santa Ana accident.

A tragic crash in Santa Ana claimed the lives of five victims, primarily teenagers, including a 13-year-old girl who had been on life support since the incident. The incident occurred on April 5, when a single-vehicle crash took place near the intersection of West Segerstrom Avenue and South Townsend Street. The car was carrying six people at the time of the collision, which was caused by the 18-year-old male driver speeding and missing a turn, resulting in a collision with a tree that caused extreme damage to the vehicle. Tragically, three teenage passengers and one adult were declared dead at the scene. The 13-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced brain dead shortly after the crash. The other victims included the driver, 18-year-old Emanuel “Manny” Gonzalez Martinez, along with Aurelia “Arely” Robles, 20; Natalia Vidal Zarate, 17; and Jaqueline Torres Zarate, 16. The only survivor, 15-year-old Arlene Robles, remains in critical condition and is scheduled for surgery after sustaining injuries in the crash. The group of victims, who were known to each other from Valley High School and Carr Intermediate, are being remembered by grieving friends and family. The Santa Ana Police Department is investigating the incident to determine if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
