1 killed in head-on crash in Stark County
PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) -- An SUV went left-of-center and struck an oncoming van, killing one person, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash happened just before 4 p.m. Thursday, July 2, on Navarre Road near Negley Avenue in Perry Township, Stark County, according to a Friday, July 3, news release. The SUV was headed southwest on Navarre Road when it went over the center line and hit a van in the oncoming northeastward lane, according to the release. The van overturned in the roadway. Perry Township firefighters needed a mechanical tool to extract the driver of the SUV, identified in the release as 28-year-old Dylan Manack of Canton. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van, identified as a 40-year-old Copley man, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
