1 killed, 2 critically injured after car hits tree in New Haven, chief says

NEW HAVEN — A single-vehicle crash Saturday on the 600 block of Woodward Avenue killed a female passenger and left two others with life-threatening injuries, the city fire chief said. The crash occurred just before 2 p.m., Fire Chief Danny Coughlin said. He said the vehicle with three occupants crashed into a tree and one of the passengers, a female, died. The driver and the second occupant suffered life-threatening injuries, Coughlin said. New Haven Police Department said it is investigating the crash but did not release any other information.
