
1 dead, 2 injured in 'catastrophic' car crash on Cape Cod
A teenager died, and two other people were injured following a serious car crash in Falmouth on Friday.Kayden Coombs, 18, of Falmouth died as a result injuries he sustained from the crash, the Massachusetts State Police announced on Saturday.Around 4 p.m. Friday, state police said they received multiple calls regarding a one-car crash in the northbound lane of Route 28, at mile marker 55.6, in Falmouth.Troopers and Falmouth Fire Department firefighters arriving at the scene found the car off the roadway, down an embankment, with what they said was "catastrophic damage."Coombs was found underneath the car. Troopers said firefighters took him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.The two other people were found outside of the car with life-threatening injuries.Troopers said one person was med-flighted to a trauma center, and the second person was transported to a hospital in the Boston area.Members of the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Cape & Island's District Attorney Robert J. Galibois' office, along with the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Section, MassDOT and the Falmouth police and fire departments are investigating the crash.The district attorney said he is in contact with the families of the people involved in the crash and the investigation remains ongoing.
