Youth dies in semi-involved crash on I-80 in Morris, authorities report
A tragedy occurred early Monday as a young individual from Morris lost their life after being hit by a semi-truck on Interstate 80, according to authorities. The Grundy County Coroner's Office has confirmed that the collision involved a pedestrian and a semi. Illinois State Police were called to the scene at milepost 112 on I-80 in Morris at 8:16 a.m. following reports of a body on the roadway. The westbound lanes were closed off, and traffic was directed off at Illinois Route 47 while investigations took place. The victim, identified as a young resident of Morris, sadly did not survive. No further details have been disclosed about the incident or the identity of the victim. The circumstances surrounding why the juvenile was on the interstate are still unclear. Both ISP and the Grundy County Coroner's Office are conducting an investigation into the matter.
