Wrong-way driver on I-70 charged with vehicular homicide and DUI
A man, identified as Jian Bin Chen, is facing multiple charges following a tragic incident on Interstate 70 in Denver that resulted in the death of a mother. The charges being brought against Chen include vehicular homicide and driving under the influence. The crash occurred on the westbound lanes of I-70 in Wheat Ridge and involved Chen colliding with another vehicle driven by Jody Weber, resulting in her death at the scene. Fortunately, her 2-year-old son, who was in the backseat at the time, sustained minor injuries and was released from the hospital after treatment. Witnesses reported seeing Chen driving erratically, with one witness observing him driving the wrong way on the interstate before the collision occurred. Police noted signs of intoxication upon arriving at the scene, and Chen cooperatively entered their vehicle. Chen has since posted bail and is scheduled for a court appearance in April.
