Woman’s flip-flops causes car crash into Popeyes in Broomfield

DENVER (KDVR) -- A woman's mishap with her flip-flops caused her to crash her car into a Popeyes Louisiana Chicken earlier this week after her foot got stuck on the accelerator. The Broomfield Police Department posted about the crash that occurred on Tuesday after the driver tried to put on her flip-flops while pulling into a parking spot at a Popeyes on Flatiron Crossing Drive. According to the department, a young woman told the traffic officers at the scene that she had taken off her shoes while she was driving, which were lying under the pedals. She tried to put her shoes back on while pulling into the parking spot, but police said her foot got caught on the accelerator and it was pushed into the floor. "A good reminder for all of us to avoid distractions while driving, and never have anything under the pedals of a vehicle," said the department in a post on X. Officers said that caused the vehicle to move across the sidewalk and crash into the building. No one was injured in the crash.
