Woman sentenced to 90 days for trying to cover up deadly Amish buggy accident
A 37-year-old woman from Kellogg, Sarah Beth Petersen, has been sentenced for her involvement in a fatal Amish buggy crash in southeastern Minnesota. She attempted to take the blame for the incident when in fact it was her twin sister, Samantha Jo Petersen, who was driving the SUV that struck the buggy. Sarah will serve 90 days in jail, 120 days on home monitoring, and four years of probation. Samantha faces numerous charges related to the crash and is scheduled for trial on July 14, 2025. The crash resulted in the death of two children and left two others injured. Sarah tried to deceive authorities by claiming she was the driver, but evidence pointed to her sister being behind the wheel. Sarah's attempts to mislead authorities were captured in recorded conversations between her and her sister.
