Woman pinned to seat by rebar in Provo Canyon accident

New information has been provided about a recent accident in Provo Canyon. The incident occurred on US-189 near milepost 18 when a Toyota Corolla traveling northbound was struck by a concrete form stake that came over the barrier and pierced the windshield, injuring the front passenger, an 18-year-old woman. The cause of the stake entering the roadway is still under investigation by the Utah Highway Patrol. The injured woman was taken to Utah Valley Hospital in serious condition. Authorities are asking for any witnesses who may have information to contact the Summit County Dispatch line. The impacted lanes in the area have been reopened, but delays are expected to continue. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
