Woman missing for two months after car crash found alive
A woman from South Carolina who disappeared after a car accident in June has been found after a nearly two-month search, confirmed by the North Augusta Department of Public Safety this Tuesday. Newsweek has reached out to the department for more information. Susan Rhodes' disappearance prompted an extensive search involving various agencies and community members. Every year, thousands of Americans go missing, but most are eventually found. As of June 2025, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System reported over 25,600 active missing persons cases and 60,000 resolved cases with funding from the Department of Justice. Rhodes, 66, was reported missing on June 11 after a car accident around 2 p.m. Search and rescue efforts were conducted with K-9 units present. Following a Tuesday announcement on Facebook, the North Augusta Department of Public Safety confirmed Rhodes had been located safely. Reports state she was found at her residence, suffering from an unknown medical condition, and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. The investigation is ongoing, and further information on Rhodes' condition or whereabouts during her absence has not been disclosed. Local authorities encourage anyone with information to contact them.
