Woman loses arm in Ventura County train crash

On Monday evening in Ventura city, a woman was severely injured by an Amtrak train, sustaining a severed arm, as reported by the police. The incident occurred around 5:25 p.m. near Seaward Avenue at a railroad overpass, shared the Ventura Police Department. Reportedly, the 24-year-old woman was carrying a bicycle in one arm while trying to cross the train tracks just as a southbound train approached. The bicycle was hit by the train while still in her grasp, causing the serious injury. The police department mentioned the bike might have become stuck on the tracks before the collision. Prompted by the accident, officers at the scene administered initial medical aid until paramedics arrived to transport the woman to a nearby hospital for urgent care. The woman's severed arm, found nearby, was also taken to the hospital with her. As of 7 p.m., the police reported the woman was in stable condition.
