Woman killed in crash in Southwest Austin identified by APD

The Austin police department has identified the woman who tragically lost her life in a crash in Southwest Austin on Sunday. Mendi Leggett, 63 years old, died at the scene of the accident that occurred on April 6 at around 2:30 p.m. The collision took place at the intersection of Lost Creek Boulevard and Loop 360, just south of Bee Caves Road, involving two vehicles. While Leggett's two companions were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the individuals in the other vehicle were unharmed. The authorities have determined that the uninjured driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and both parties involved are cooperating with the investigation. This tragic incident marks the 23rd fatal crash in Austin in 2025, resulting in 27 deaths. The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing. Last year, by the same date, there had been 21 fatal crashes leading to 21 deaths.
