
Woman jailed for fatal crash killing 2 Springboro students
A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for causing a crash that resulted in the deaths of two Springboro graduates. Mary Ellen Huelsman received the maximum sentence, along with a lifetime ban on her driver's license, after the fatal incident last year. The crash occurred on May 20, 2023, in Clearcreek Township, Ohio, claiming the lives of Michael T. Barch and Karys R. Seipel, who were recent graduates of Springboro High School. Huelsman, driving at 107 miles per hour, ran a red light and collided with the car carrying Barch and Seipel. Judge Timothy Tepe found Huelsman guilty of two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and two counts of vehicular homicide following a four-day trial. The families of the victims and Huelsman expressed their emotions during the sentencing hearing.
