Woman in Montana faces negligent homicide charges for deadly accident

A woman from Roberts, aged 29, was charged with negligent homicide this week in connection with the death of a man from Park City in a crash on Highway 310 near Rockvale on July 6. Rachel Eve McElheran was formally charged in Carbon County District Court recently but has not yet appeared in court to address the charge. Court documents allege that McElheran was driving a Jeep Cherokee in the wrong lane and struck a GMC Sierra pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Rand Carlson, who tragically lost his life in the accident. McElheran reportedly made statements to ambulance personnel suggesting she intentionally caused the crash. A blood sample was obtained by the Montana Highway Patrol for further investigation at the Montana State Crime Lab. Meanwhile, the Quick Stop Drive-In in Rockvale, where Carlson worked, is organizing a fundraiser on July 13 to support his family.
