Woman in Alamance County court for fatal crash.
A woman accused of a fatal car crash that took the life of a teenager in Alamance County faced her first court appearance on Monday. Tracey Hernandez, who appeared via virtual conference due to injuries from the crash, was in a wheelchair during the proceedings. Lily Hahn, the teen who tragically lost her life in the accident just before her graduation from Southeast Alamance High School, was mourned by her family and friends during the courtroom session where they came face to face with the accused. Lily's family, holding a photo of her, and loved ones gathered to support one another in their grief. Stepping into the courthouse, Lily's stepfather Dustin Holt spoke about finding solace in faith during these challenging times. Hernandez, the defendant, is accused of driving under the influence with children in her vehicle who were not properly restrained. The prosecutor detailed the charges against Hernandez, including impairment at the time of the crash. Due to her prior record and the severity of the case, Hernandez was denied bond. Lily's family expressed relief at the decision, emphasizing their desire for justice and the safety of others on the road. The family also shared their admiration for Lily's faith, which continues to provide them with strength as they cope with their loss.
