
Woman from University Park faces DUI charges in fatal multi-car collision on Dan Ryan Expressway
A 26-year-old woman from University Park, Tamia Rios, has been taken into custody following a tragic collision on the Dan Ryan Expressway that led to a loss of life and injuries. The Illinois State Police reported that Rios faces serious charges, including Aggravated Driving Under the Influence offenses linked to the incident that occurred early last Sunday on Interstate 94 at 87th Street. The crash involved three vehicles, with Rios' 2021 Buick colliding with both a semi-trailer and a stalled vehicle. Tragically, the passenger in Rios' car, 23-year-old Carlos Rios of Ithaca, NY, lost his life as a result of the collision, while others involved suffered injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. Following the investigation, ISP agents worked with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to file charges against Rios, who is currently in custody awaiting her first court appearance.
