Woman crashes into teen directing traffic after initial crash, according to Arlington police

A 33-year-old woman is currently in police custody after a tragic accident took place in Arlington over the weekend. This incident occurred on Saturday morning on I-30 near Baird Farm Road, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old man named Angel Alonso. According to authorities, Alonso crashed into an abandoned car parked on the shoulder lane, causing both vehicles to enter the main lanes of I-30. After the collision, Alonso attempted to warn other drivers by using his cellphone light, but sadly, another vehicle driven by Brittani Watkins, 33, crashed into him and his car, causing it to overturn. Watkins and a 33-year-old passenger sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Witnesses reported seeing Watkins' vehicle swerving before the collision, leading police to suspect she was driving under the influence. Following testing, Watkins was charged with driving while intoxicated, and additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
