Woman charged in fatal wrong-way crash on Florida Turnpike in Miramar granted bond
During a recent court hearing, Sunshine Perez was granted bond after being accused of causing a fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike in Miramar. The crash led to the death of 23-year-old Zeke Urrutia, who aspired to be a firefighter. Urrutia's parents made emotional pleas to the judge to deny Perez bond, emphasizing the gravity of their loss and the danger of allowing Perez back onto the streets. Despite their pleas, the judge ruled that all charges were bondable and set bail at $400,000. If Perez is released, she will face strict conditions including wearing a GPS monitor, regular drug and alcohol testing, surrendering her passport, no driving privileges, and staying in designated areas. Perez was driving the wrong way and collided with Urrutia's vehicle, resulting in his death and her injury. Despite efforts to prevent wrong-way accidents, tragedies continue to occur, as seen in Urrutia's case.
