Woman charged in fatal DUI golf cart crash in Mercer County

A Butler County woman is facing multiple charges for a golf cart crash in 2025 that killed one person and injured several others in Mercer County. VIDEO: Top stories from noon on Pittsburgh's Action News 4 Court documents said officials were called to the area of Latonka Road in Jackson Township on May 24, 2025, following reports of a single golf cart crash. Police said they saw a light green, four-seat Bintelli golf cart lying partially on Latonka Drive when they arrived at the scene. Multiple people were also seen in the area where the crash occurred. Officials said one individual, later identified as Megan Mappin, was being treated on the scene and was later flown to the hospital with serious head injuries. She later died as a result of the crash. Court papers said Natalie Jo Lally, of Butler County, was the operator of the golf cart when she went around a sharp curve at a high rate of speed. The victim, along with two others, fell off the cart as it made the curve. Mappin later died from her injuries, while one other person required multiple stitches. No other injuries were reported. Officers spoke to Lally and said she had a strong odor of alcohol. She also appeared to have glassy and bloodshot eyes. The complaint said Lally told police she had "enough" and felt like she "had a lot" to drink before the incident occurred. She said she didn't realize the curve in the road was sharp and that she didn't slow down enough. Officials conducted a walk-and-turn test, and later drew blood from Lally. At the time of the incident, her blood alcohol level was .164%, which is more than double the legal limit. Two days following the incident, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said the victim suffered blunt force trauma to the head, neck, torso, and other areas. Lally is now facing multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and aggravated assault by vehicle. Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
