Woman arrested for causing deadly collision on US 19, according to troopers

A Brooksville resident was taken into custody on Sunday for suspected DUI following a collision on U.S. 19 in Pasco County that tragically resulted in the death of a passenger, as reported by authorities. Ashley Silver Marshall, age 37, was driving a Buick sedan northbound on U.S. 19 near Bolton Avenue in Hudson around 8 p.m. when she rear-ended a Chrysler PT Cruiser traveling in the same direction, stated the Florida Highway Patrol. The Chrysler veered off the road, hitting a series of objects including a light pole, culvert, utility pole, and cable box, causing extensive damage. The Buick also left the roadway, crashing into a fence and three boats in the vicinity. A 68-year-old man from Hudson who was a passenger in the Chrysler succumbed to his injuries at a nearby medical facility. Marshall and the Chrysler driver required medical attention for minor injuries and were transported to the hospital. Marshall was taken into custody by troopers after testing revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.24, which significantly exceeds the legal limit for impaired driving according to Florida regulations. She was subsequently charged with DUI manslaughter, as well as DUI resulting in injury and property damage, and was detained at the Pasco County Jail. Details regarding her bail and current confinement status were not provided as of Monday.
