Woman and dog struck by car on accident-prone Boston road

A woman was injured after being struck by a car while crossing a street in Boston with her dog. The incident occurred on Saturday morning near 300 Commercial Street in the North End neighborhood. The victim and her dog were hit by the car while crossing the street, and the driver stayed at the scene. She was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Leo Vercollone, a resident in the area, witnessed the accident and saw the victim being cared for by friends. Nearby residents Sam Larivee and Milton Marin, who often walk their dog on Commercial Street, mentioned that pedestrian accidents are not uncommon in the area. The victim is expected to recover, but neighborhood groups are advocating for improved pedestrian safety measures. City officials, including Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, have expressed concern and are looking into potential changes. A Boston City Councilor has already requested emergency safety measures for the street where the accident occurred. The victim's dog, fortunately, was unharmed and is in the care of a friend. Police have not filed any charges against the driver involved in the incident.
