Woman accused of second-degree murder and DWI following deadly collision in Burlington, per authorities

A tragic incident occurred in Burlington, North Carolina, where a young woman, Paige Moore, was charged with second-degree murder and driving while impaired following a deadly collision. The Burlington Police Department responded to the crash on September 27th at 5:19 a.m. on East Webb Ave. Moore, 19, was driving an Audi A4 sedan that collided head-on with a Chevrolet Blazer SUV driven by Richard Smith, 66. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be rescued, with Smith sustaining critical injuries. Unfortunately, Smith passed away on October 2nd due to his injuries. Investigative findings indicate that Moore crossed the center lane while speeding at over 65 mph in a 35-mph zone, causing the fatal crash. Surveillance footage from nearby businesses captured the incident. Following a thorough investigation and grand jury testimony, Moore was indicted for second-degree murder and subsequently surrendered herself to authorities. She is currently being held in the Alamance County Jail without bond.
