
Woman accused of DUI in fatal Providence collision
A Providence woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following a fatal crash on I-95 South near Exit 37B early Sunday morning. The three-vehicle collision resulted in one fatality and two individuals being hospitalized. The Rhode Island State Police arrested Licheva Castro for various charges, including causing death while driving under the influence, reckless driving resulting in death, and obstructing an officer. The accused was driving on a suspended license for the fourth time and was operating a vehicle belonging to someone else at the time of the incident. Castro, 36, was also facing a previous bail release related to a cocaine possession charge from 2024. Following her arraignment on Monday, she was detained without bail as the investigation into the crash continues.
