
Woman accused of causing deadly drunk driving accident in downtown St. Louis
A woman involved in a fatal drunk driving crash last autumn in downtown St. Louis will be arrested following an order by a judge in the St. Louis Circuit Court made on Friday. The incident, which happened around 1 a.m. on Oct. 13, 2024, at the intersection of 14th and Market streets near the Stifel Theater, involved a speeding Dodge Durango being driven by Melissa Westbrook, 35, allegedly under the influence of alcohol. Westbrook ran a red light, colliding with a Dodge Caravan that had the right of way. The crash resulted in injuries to several individuals and sadly, a passenger in Westbrook's car, Tunisha Chestnutt, age 32, did not survive. Westbrook is facing charges including first-degree involuntary manslaughter, armed criminal action, and DWI – death of another. She will be held in custody without bond.
