Woman accused in fatal Edisto Island hit-and-run accident
A woman from Adams Run, South Carolina is facing legal consequences following a tragic hit-and-run incident on Edisto Island. Janet Brown, 53, has been charged with felony DUI and failing to remain at the site of an accident. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office detained Brown after deputies were called to the scene of the collision on Highway 174 and Pine Landing Road. Sadly, the pedestrian hit by the vehicle has not been identified and passed away at the scene. A news report from the sheriff's office commended a vigilant citizen for stopping the vehicle involved in the incident after it initially left the scene. Subsequently, Brown was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center.
