Woman, 49, killed in Des Plaines car crash with semi truck, according to police

A tragic incident occurred on Sunday night in Des Plaines, Illinois, where a collision between a car and a semi truck resulted in the death of a woman. Des Plaines police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Algonquin Road and Leslie Lane just before midnight. Upon arrival, they discovered a passenger in a Toyota Prius suffering from a severe leg injury, to which they promptly applied a tourniquet in an effort to stop the bleeding. Despite efforts to save her, the victim, identified as 49-year-old Nazly Rodriguez-Munoz of Des Plaines, passed away from the injuries sustained in the crash. Initial findings from the investigation indicate that the Prius, driven by a 28-year-old Des Plaines woman, had rear-ended a Volvo semi-truck while heading eastbound on Algonquin Road towards Leslie Lane. The Prius driver claimed the semi-truck was parked on the south side of Algonquin Road without any lights on, whereas the semi driver stated he was traveling at a slow pace in the same direction. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and law enforcement authorities have assured that more details will be shared as they become available.
