Kaufman County residents living near the location of a fatal crash on I-20, which authorities believe occurred due to a semi driver falling asleep at the wheel, shared that they are still deeply affected by the incident. Five individuals lost their lives in the accident, with a sixth person hospitalized. The collision, which occurred at around 2:40 p.m. when the driver of the 18-wheeler, 27-year-old Alexis Osmani Gonzalez-Companioni, allegedly fell asleep, led to a chain reaction involving multiple vehicles. The Terrell Volunteer Fire Department labeled the crash as "horrific," calling for a "mass casualty" response. Locals nearby described hearing the impact and witnessing the aftermath, expressing their shock and distress at the scene.
