Will County board member cited for accident involving child bicyclist
WILL COUNTY, Ill. (WGN) — Will County board member Jackie Traynere recently received a citation for a car accident involving a child on a bicycle. WGN News learned that Traynere received a ticket earlier this month for failing to yield the right of way in a crosswalk. Responding to a Freedom of Information Act request, Bolingbrook police released video of officers responding to the scene. In the police report, multiple witnesses say Traynere drove away after hitting the juvenile in the crosswalk. The report says she went to the police station claiming she saw a child fall off a bike, but wasn't sure if she hit him. The report also says she could not explain a dent and scratch on her hood to officers. Despite witness accounts, authorities did not charge Traynere with leaving the scene of an accident. In addition to serving on the Will County board, Traynere is also a DuPage Township administrator.
