Widow sues Santee Cooper over husband's 2024 bulldozer accident
The partner of a man who tragically passed away last May following a bulldozer incident is taking legal action against the utility company in charge of the facility where the incident occurred. Jessica Bishop has filed a lawsuit against Santee Cooper, alleging that it was responsible for the circumstances that led to Cody Jordan's death at the Winyah Generating Station. The lawsuit sheds light on the events of that day, revealing that a defective on-board GPS system may have played a role in the accident. Jordan lost his life while operating the bulldozer as it fell into a hidden gap in a coal pile. The incident took place with no other individuals nearby, and search efforts later discovered Jordan's body buried deep beneath the coal pile. Bishop's lawsuit mentions that Santee Cooper management was not informed of Jordan's disappearance until 30 minutes after the incident. The lawsuit seeks financial compensation citing negligence on the part of the utility company.
