Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office recently reported on a collision between two vehicles on U.S. 52 North. Taking place in snowy and icy conditions on a Tuesday, January 20, the incident involved a vehicle losing control and striking the bridge wall before coming to a halt. Patricia Carey, a 67-year-old Decorah resident, was driving the second vehicle and managed to apply her brakes in time to avoid the disabled vehicle. Unfortunately, Sherry Johnson, a 74-year-old from Mabel, Minnesota, who was driving behind Carey, was unable to stop in time and ended up rear-ending Carey's car. Luckily, Carey, who was close to her destination, was able to continue driving after the accident, while Johnson's vehicle had to be towed by Don's Towing.
