Video shows LAPD officer hitting skateboarder with car
The Los Angeles police have released video footage of a tragic incident where a skateboarder, Gerardo "Jerry" Estrada, was fatally struck by an officer in Highland Park. The crash, which occurred on Sept. 19, is currently being investigated. According to Capt. Mike Bland, the officer was en route to assist in establishing a perimeter during a search for a felony suspect when the accident occurred. The video captured by the vehicle's dashcam shows the cruiser navigating through traffic with sirens blaring and emergency lights flashing, eventually colliding with Estrada on a skateboard in the middle median. Following the crash, officers swiftly responded to the scene, where Estrada was found trapped under a parked vehicle and later declared dead by responding firefighters.
