Video: Reckless driver's actions lead to crash on I-71.
In Columbus, a peculiar chain reaction crash occurred on Interstate 71 South due to a driver making an irresponsible decision. The Ohio Department of Transportation recorded the incident on traffic cameras. The footage revealed that a red vehicle stopped suddenly in the center lane of the highway, seemingly after missing an exit. This unexpected halt caused two vehicles behind it to stop as well. Unfortunately, a silver van was unable to brake in time and collided with the stopped vehicles. Following the crash, the red vehicle fled the scene. Matt Bruning from ODOT shared that this behavior is highly risky and stressed the importance of not stopping on highways for missed exits, noting that there are numerous ramps available for drivers to turn back if needed. Thankfully, there were no life-threatening injuries reported from the accident, but those involved did suffer minor injuries and vehicle damage. Authorities are yet to confirm if the driver responsible for the crash has been identified or will face charges.
