VIDEO: Collision of Aerial Vehicles in China

During a rehearsal for the Changchun Air Show in China, two flying cars manufactured by XPeng AeroHT collided, leading the company to attribute the incident to "insufficient flight distance." Following this, Newsweek reached out to XPeng AeroHT, affiliated with Chinese EV maker Xpeng, for comment. The crash underscores safety concerns around flying vehicles as flying taxis are poised to begin operation soon. The collision between the two electric flying cars could pose a challenge for the Chinese EV industry, but it is unlikely to hinder its progress. The incident, where one car landed safely and the other caught fire due to body damage upon landing, occurred on Tuesday, September 16. Investigation into the specific cause of the accident is underway by relevant authorities. AeroHT reportedly introduced its Voyager X2 model in low-altitude and demonstration flights in Chinese cities, including Guangzhou and Beijing. The company also disclosed plans to establish 200 "flying camps" for individuals to experience their vehicles, though it did not specify if these camps would be global. China is a leader in EV technology with companies like BYD rivaling Tesla in global EV production. XPeng AeroHT aims to create flying camps in cities and along popular routes to offer users flight experience and services as investigations into the recent accident unfold.
