Video: Bengaluru couple fatally attacks delivery agent for bumping into their car
Authorities in Bengaluru South Police apprehended a couple on suspicion of orchestrating the murder of a gig worker and disguising it as a road mishap. The tragic event unfolded on October 25 in the Sri Rama Temple vicinity when Darshan, the gig worker, lost his life and his companion Varun sustained injuries after a vehicle pursued and collided with their motorbike. Surveillance footage revealed that the car intentionally followed and struck the two-wheeler, indicating a calculated offence rather than an accident. DCP (South) Lokesh Jagalasur disclosed that the disturbance ensued after Darshan's bike inadvertently made contact with the car, resulting in the breaking of its side mirror. In a fit of rage, the driver backed up the vehicle, trailed the two-wheeler, and intentionally smashed into it. The suspects, identified as Manoj Sharma, a physical education instructor, and his wife Aarti, reportedly revisited the scene in masks to gather fragments of the vehicle, aiming to obliterate evidence. The case was subsequently reclassified as murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, coupled with charges of tampering with evidence. The apprehended duo has been brought before the court for proceedings, while a thorough investigation is currently in progress.
