Verdict varied in Montgomery Inn Boathouse threat case
A man accused of threatening WCPO 9 chief meteorologist Steve Raleigh before an altercation at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse last June received a mixed verdict after a three-day trial. Troy Morrow was the defendant accused of making a violent threat towards Raleigh following a car accident in the parking lot. At the conclusion of the trial, a jury found Morrow not guilty of misdemeanor menacing, but guilty of disorderly conduct. He was fined $50, and his court costs were waived. The trial focused on the events leading up to the altercation, where Kyle Raleigh, Steve's son, had previously pleaded guilty to assault charges related to the incident. The arguments in court revolved around Morrow's actions before the altercation, with Steve Raleigh and Kyle Raleigh giving testimonies. The jury deliberated on whether Morrow's behavior constituted menacing, with the prosecution presenting evidence suggesting otherwise. Despite not being convicted of menacing, Morrow was found guilty of disorderly conduct. Morrow's parents have filed a civil lawsuit against Kyle Raleigh seeking compensation for medical bills and lost wages. They claim Kyle acted out of a mistaken belief that his father was in danger and that being physically protective was necessary.
