Vehicle vs wheelchair crash results in life-threatening injuries
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - A person in a wheelchair was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a vehicle, according to the Grand Junction Police Department. GJPD responded to the crash around 2:55 p.m., Friday, at Patterson Road and Rio Grande Drive. Law enforcement learned the driver of a truck turning eastbound onto Patterson struck a person in a wheelchair who was crossing the roadway on Rio Grande. All lanes of Patterson Road between 28 and 28 1/4 roads will remain closed for some time while authorities investigate the crash.
