Vehicle plunges from I-10 overpass, collides with barrier

The westbound lanes of Interstate 10 in Phoenix have reopened after a man drove off the freeway and hit a median. This occurred around 2:30 a.m. on April 4 at the 79th Avenue exit ramp. The driver, a 49-year-old Glendale man, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized. Authorities suspect impairment and are charging him with DUI and criminal damage. No one else was injured in the incident. The driver's identity has not been disclosed.
