Vehicle crash at Rogersville Veterans Memorial causes injuries
Over the weekend, a crash occurred on Main Street in Rogersville, resulting in three injuries and causing significant damage to the town's Veterans Memorial. According to a social media update by Hawkins County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Jamie Miller, the incident took place at Main Street near the Hale Springs Inn. Emergency responders mentioned that a vehicle collided with the Veterans Memorial, causing a gas leak from the memorial's eternal flame. Despite some damage to historic poles at the Hale Springs Inn, safety measures have been put in place with wood until repairs can be made. The EMA reported that the injured individuals were taken to a nearby hospital, with city and county officials scheduled to assess and manage the situation. Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson noted that his team was present to help direct traffic during the incident.
