Vehicle collides with house and ignites in East Memphis
In East Memphis, a car crashed into a home and ignited a fire following an incident where the driver fled during an attempted traffic stop. Law enforcement received a call around 4 a.m. regarding a collision at a residence on Ellsworth Street. The homeowner, who was asleep at the time, reported hearing a loud crash and discovering a Kia Optima had struck the front of their house. The driver of the vehicle then allegedly abandoned the scene, resulting in the car catching fire. Although the Optima had been seen evading a traffic stop prior to the crash, no pursuit was initiated. The Memphis Fire Department extinguished the blaze, and the car was subsequently taken to a city lot. Details on the suspect have not been released, as the investigation is ongoing.
